Album Notes

The Rising Asterisk is a hip hop ensemble with a devotion to uncovering the listener's hidden artistic talents. Their major theme is to create an environment where their people can express themselves freely. Remshot is the beatsmith while Tantrum and Deedotfusion provide the sophisticated lyricism. Remshot drops the knowledge, Dee dot spits the smoothness, and Tantrum wraps circles around heads with metaphors and ridiculous rhyme schemes. Tantrum is also a well known battle rapper in the Bay Area who was a semifinalists in the 2006 Scribble Jam in Cincinnati. The live show is backed by the two turntable rigs of DjPsan and Xariusound who provide a high energy showcase reminiscent of the glory days of hip hop.

The crew was born in Santa Cruz, California on April 14th 2002 when the original members conceptualized the "Asterisk Rising" theme. What was intended to be a night of star gazing ended up becoming a discovery of imagination. Since 2002, the band has chronicled the rapid development of their creativity in several independent cd projects, all produced by band leader Remshot. Under his guidance, the emcees and DJs of the Rising Asterisk have placed their skills on display not with amibitions to reach fame, but rather to serve as inspiration.

The current group, which consists of UC Santa Cruz students and alumni, are now releasing music under the Berkeley based, independent record label, Grow.

The cd is okay but its not what I thought. Its a little more rap then it is hip-hop. I was going for more hip-hop.
