Album Notes

Joey Beeps and Aztek the Barfly form the emcee duo known as Rising Sunz. DJ Rizzo provides the backdrop to this exciting crew. Formed several years ago, this crew from Downriver Detroit is getting set to drop their best album to date. Almost two years in the making their new album "Throwing Stones" is now available. It features over 20 tracks of pure Hip-Hop and features such special guests as the master of punchlines Chino XL, the white trash foul mouth R.A. the Rugged Man, and hometowns own Dante from Switch Stance. The Rising Sunz have been in the shadows for a bit, but if you looked hard enough you could find them. They have done shows with Wu-Tang Clan, Eminem, ICP, Twiztid, Thirstin Howell, R.A. the Rugged Man, Cage and Copywrite, and on and on and on. They have done songs for the Howard Stern radio and tv show. They made the title track for the independent film release Even Trade. Now all attention is focused on this upcoming release.

REVIEWS

Raw Underground Hip Hop
author: Christopher Sheridan
A tight album throughout. Dope lyrics, beats, and cuts. My favorite tracks are Grouchy, Architex, Wrecking Ball, & Breathe Through the Mind. This is raw experimental Hip Hop straight from the underground and pulling no punches.

Throwing Stones is classic hip hop from an honest pespective
author: HAVOC Productions
The Rising Sunz have been pounding the pavement and the stages in and around Detroit for years now. You can always expect to see them at the bar rapping or drinking, usually both. Throwing Stones is a great reflection of who Aztek, Joe and Rizzo really are. The music is heavy and melodic and the lyrics are pure hip hop in the classic sense. With a few tasteful appearances, noteable guests as well (Buh!, Architext and Windmills). Throwing Stones really sticks to what the Sunz do best, lyrical battle tracks and smart party songs (Bad Habits), smart only because most of the 'party' tracks we get from the mainstream hip hop acts are completely dumbed down. The record's only downfall may be in it's length, there is alot of music to get through to hear all of Throwing Stones, it's length is compensated for w/ edgy and experimental production (Breathe Through The Mind). Throwing Stones is a strong record and a worthwhile purchase, and a bearable way to 'Support Real Hip Hop'.
