Rita Ruby is a soulful country gospel singer, product of a small southern Ohio town but with a voice as big as the entire southland. She grew up singing with family and friends in church and at home. She successfully fits a powerful voice into the comfort and intimacy of the living room. Singing is her passion and the way she puts a song across makes you believe every word.
Rita teaches at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago and sings with a bluegrass band, Whiskey Hollow, in addition to solo performances and workshops.
In Ruth's Kitchen, her first cd, comprises gospel material she learned growing up. She is joined on the CD by Michael Bloomfield on piano.
