Album Notes

Sing Yourself Wet - album
It´s been more than two years since we decided to make this album. Our first album had consisted of songs from our live-repertoire. A couple of them somewhat elaborated. But basicly the music RiverHorse would play, and had for many years been playing - live.

This album was designed from the outset as a record. We got together a "gross list" of some 40 songs. Songs that we, for some reason or another, would like to try out. Drafts were recorded, some slightly arranged, but always fairly "rough" in order not to be biased by one particular concept - at least not from the very start.

Then we pondered on these drafts for a while. To get a feel of the substance of the material. By way of experiment, we completed one song, "Just do it", which was released on our site in the summer of 2002.

Drafts became demos. Continuous assessment: What to leave out, what to leave in? A couple of new songs were added.

After the demos came the long haul with recording. And then came the even longer and even tougher haul with processing and mixing the raw-material. But now, at last, we´re there.

We have called the CD "Sing Yourself Wet". For, in playing rock ´n´ roll the most important point is to transmit that elementary feeling of sheer delight and raw pleasure that comes from being part of the music. In that sense, rock is always "happy" music. Not "happy" = "silly". Rock excludes neither thought nor reflection. But the fact that singing and playing is a glorious way to be alive must be heard. Always. We feel that on this album we have - once more - achieved that.

All the way through the process it has been our standard of quality that, 20 years from now, we should still be able to listen to this music and like it. And so far, neither we, nor any we know, have grown tired of it.

RiverHorse is mainly Allan Sorensen and Peter Rolnes, experienced gents of the Danish rock scene since the early '70ties. But this album would have been something quite different - and no better - had it not been for the participation of some people we won´t hesitate to call "friends and resources". Listen to Lisbet´s singing on "Le vieux Saoulard et sa Femme"! Listen to Johannes´ piano on "Rendezvous without you"! Listen to Karsten´s warped Louisiana-synth on "People get ready".

And mainly: Have a ball!
