Album Notes

I am a long-time Beatles/Lennon-influenced Bay Area musician, singer, songwriter. This album, Love & Colors, is my ninth solo LP. My first was done in 1984. I hope to eventually have all albums available here. I am also a member of Zru Vogue, along with Andrew Jackson, who also have CDs here at CD Baby. I have done numerous collaborative LPs, as well as soundtrack music for independent films and documentaries. I also am influenced by Tom Petty, Elvis Costello, TheWho/Pete Townshend, Queen, Hendrix, Bowie, Eno, The Bonzo Dog Band, and even the likes of Puccini and Verdi.

Rick is my name...Melody is my game. Enjoy!

Wonderful CD by Rick Cuevas! This CD has reflective ballads and indelible rock such as a cover of Bowie's Moonage Daydream (really good!). Rick demonstrates his songwriting abilities and also his virtuoso guitar playing to great effect! Thanks Rick!

Depth and quiet beauty intermingle in Love & Colors

This album is a throw-back - and I mean that in the best, most wistful way. Its thoughtful feel, grace and sometimes surprising playfulness seems to have come from a more colorful time, a time before suspicion, before the angry cynicism of our daily headlines, before Bush. The title song feels like walking in the cool evening of one's less pessimistic days. Then Cuevas reminds you that in addition to evoking memories, he's really, really good at what he does - “Ode to Martin” and “Costa Brava” underscore his prowess as a musician. His cover of “Moonage Daydream”, one of the greatest Bowie songs ever, is absolutely worthy. “Going Downtown”, perhaps my favorite on the album, is just a bouncy blast. The album “Love & Colors” is brimming with both. Listen & Enjoy.

It's great. Really really nice work. Really smooth nice vibe from song to song, a real pleasure to listen to. Fantastic job on MoonageDaydream (one of my fave Dave Bowie songs). Very nice (R)ick Ronson guitar work on that. I loved Costa Brava. You could do an album of that stuff and I think you'd be famous.
