"This is a simply superb album...which perfectly evokes the sound of a generation of smoky noir thrillers and the more upbeat sound of vintage Hollywood musicals yet offers a distinctive personality of its own. ..GARY DALKIN

REBECCA KYLER DOWNS IS ON A BRAND NEW CD WITH DIANA KRALL, BOBBY CALDWELL, and JOEY FATONE.
"Love Me Like Candy" is featured in the soundtrack of the new Alec Baldwin, William H. Macy hit movie "The Cooler" AND on the soundtrack CD.
HERE"S WHAT THE CRITICS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT HER SONG IN "The Cooler":
"...Anyone who has fallen under the spell of Diana Krall or any of the many Krall wannabes currently doing the rounds but would like something with rather a lot more sass, swing and sheer joy of music making should look no further. Let's hope there's more soon, but meanwhile this is the real thing from the hottest jazz singer since, and we mean this is the nicest way, Jessica Rabbit." GARY DALKIN, EDITOR: FILM MUSIC ON THE WEB
"'Love Me Like Candy' by Rebecca Kyler Downs will have you stripteasing for that special someone in your life. It oozes sex-appeal..." Emily Blunt, Blunt Reviews
I dug the contemporary jazz sound in the songs, especially the torch style jazz song "Love Me Like Candy" with Rebecca Kyler Downs. Her voice is sexy and the lyrics are cool...

Rebecca Kyler Downs gives a loose and playful, slinky performance of "Love Me like Candy... "

BIOGRAPHY
Lush vocals, great writing and classic beauty are only part of what Rebecca Kyler Downs brings to the stage. She creates an intimate, late-night supper-club feel in every venue she plays. With her elegant appearance, trademark red satin gloves and rich, throaty voice she brings glamour, sophistication and romance to the stage.
"Down's characterizations range from sultry senusality through perky playfullness, sensitive introspection, little girl innocence, ironic bluesy resignation to good-time raunch and starry eyed nostalgic romance..." FILM MUSIC ON THE WEB
As a songwriter she experienced almost instant success. The title song of her debut CD, LOVE ME LIKE CANDY was snapped up by the producers of the TV series Roswell and again, used in the hit movie THE COOLER and selected for the soundtrack CD. BOOGIE WITH THE BAD CATS, another song she wrote for her debut CD, was used in DOWN WITH LOVE.
Rebecca has performed all over the world, sung on her own and others' CDs, been featured in VOGUE Magazine and has appeared on national television. She was featured on Steve Reid's (The Rippingtons, Supertramp) smooth jazz favorite "Dreamscapes", which climbed the Billboard Jazz charts last year, and she has not limited herself to music. Youll hear her sexy voice on many a Cd-Rom, commercial and cartoon - hint - she's always the bad guy...

HERE'S WHAT OTHER CRITICS HAVE SAID ABOUT HER WORK AND Her OWN CD...
"this lady can really sing..." LA JAZZ SCENE
"Every once in a while a truly quality chanteuse will appear on the music scene...Rebecca Kyler Downs' first solo release is masterfully arranged....the singer coos the opening title track so sweetly that it will take your breath away - as it did for the producers of Roswell on the WB, who picked up the song for the show's soundtrack this season...A true pleasure, LOVE ME LIKE CANDY is a modern masterpiece that blends sultry vocals with near perfect jazz and modern big band arrangements"
JOE WOOD, ATOMIC MAGAZINE, WINTER, 2001
"Sultry swing at its best..." 5678 SWING MAGAZINE

Dark, smokey with just a hint of danger. "Gimmie a bourbon on the rocks!"
author: James Petcoff
These songs evoke the dark underside of a James Elroy novel with all the menace and desperation implied in Rebecca's sexy, smokey vocals. Great soundtrack music for a low rent gumshoe PI caper. Her versions of Love For Sale and You Needn't are the best I've heard in years and the band cooks!

I got this CD when I heard her song, Love Me Like Candy on Swing top 40. I just really like it. I'm into lindy and she isn't great for that, except for a couple songs, but I love listening to her. All the songs are different beats and styles, so you don't get bored listening to the same stuff over and over. I don't have to program some trax out - I love every tune - especially the french one Belle Epoch
