Wanelle and Ray grew up together near a small, rural town in Georgia in the USA. Beginning in their high school years, their pathways took them in totally differnet directions for many years, and it was only recently that they met again and realized that they both loved singing country music and performing on stage.
Amazingly, they met on stage at the Powersville Opry in Georgia for the first time in many years when the leader of the Klassic Kountry Band invited Wanelle up to sing a few songs with them. Ray was the lead singer in this band, and was as much surprised to see her as she was to see him.
When he realized that she was quite a singer, he invited her to be a part of the regular group. To make a long story short, they formed their own band, Phoenix, and now perform weekly to enthusiastic crowds throughout Georgia.
