Stepped up and hit a home run!

Well these guys produced a great debut album (waddya mean - you ain't got it!!)and this, the so-called difficult 2nd album goes to show that they were just warming up before. Rick and Paul have got some major league players helping out on this one and some of the riffage is awesome. Difficult to pick a favorite track so I won't, just strap yourself down, turn it up to 11, and prepare to get mashed by the Mergatriod and his pals! Great work and a 510 yard homer of an album.

this band are one of my best discoveries of 2008,,,this cd seriously grooves like few others,,,all the songs are very high standard,with awesome character-filed vocals,,,and (not that it's important when you've got songs of this calibre! )if you like the very very highest class "shred",,then sprinkled on many of the songs are solos of sheer unremitting jaw dropping technique and attitude,,,i think this is a must have cd,,these guys are the real deal.full stop.

Upon 1st listen this is what I have to say....'Whiskey, Blood & Napalm' by Robot Lords of Tokyo is one of my Top 10 CDs of 2008. Yup, it's that good. For what is essentially a two piece band with a revolving list of guest stars, RLoT is an extremely tight group that sounds like they've been together forever. In other words the Robots sound like a band, not a project. Nothing sounds piecemeal or out of place on this disc. And speaking as someone who is distinctly NOT a METALHEAD I'm happy to say this disc is lacking any of the cliches of the sometimes cartoonish genre of heavy metal. First and foremost the songs simply rock. Great riffs, great feel. The production is top notch. Guitars, vocals, and drums are loud and in your face but not overbearingly so. The songwriting is intelligent and melodies memorable. And no 'cookie monster' vocals to be found. (thankfully!) I don't give out many 5 star reviews but 'Whiskey, Blood, & Napalm' definitely deserves it. Stand out tracks include 'The Mergatroid', 'Bring It On Down' and 'Comes Eternal Night'.
