"A tasty bit of organ jazz from Ron Levy -- an unsung hero of the Hammond, and one of the leading lights of the Northeast scene! Ron's playing is steeped in the classic styles of the 60s -- some nice Jack McDuff touches on the keys at times, but overall with a heavier approach to the funk that reminds us more of some of the heavy-hitters in the Prestige jazz funk early 70s years -- like Leon Spencer or Groove Holmes. The album's got a surprisingly classic feel -- no gimmicks, no "jam too much" playing -- just tight, right, and outta site funky jazz -- played in a style that really appreciates the classics, but which gives it the kind of energy that we first heard getting pumped back into the music from the Desco/Daptone crew! Titles include "Soulard Soul Stew", "Always Outnumbered", "The Soulside", "Silver Plated", "Green Eyed Soul", and "El Fuego De Lowell".

Very Funky Stuff

Ron is a true talent. As a producer, musician and writer. I especially love his Wil Kingdom scene. This disc has superb writing and sound textures. Just listen to the first 6 songs. Ron's magic fingers and tapping toes will delight and uplift your mood. I bought Green Eyed Soul back in 2005. Love it and still shake my fat bottome to it on occassion. Gecko Slueth Girl approved booty call music. Corn dogs, cherry cobbler and dry Chardonnay sold seperately.

author: Vermont's finest jazz critic Mr. Burt "Big Daddy" Bummer
Can you dig this organ orchestrator man Levy? Well,i sure can. My college buddies groove with this Wild Kingdom stuff. Now The Bummer is a convert too. The whole deal is arranged by Mr. Levy. Very impressive percussion and drumming just spanks the bongos like they've never been before. Warning:the cd cover is awfully cheap just for the new listeners sake. Furthermore; Lev's production values more than make up for that. I mean RLWK has inspiring organ solos and the writing quality displayed herein nocks your skivies right off...for crying out loud. Ron's 387 pound organ wails, whistles, hums and ultimately pulses along under Levtron's veteran stewardship. The cd sort of gets wonky around song 8 & 9. However;the song selection flows with the ever fanny spanking tussles that the 'Wild Kingdom' always comes up with. People wont hear any horns on this one. Ron uses his gigging band on this project and the results are truer...just like his live shows are. Green Eyed Soul gets 6 rumps and a three brown eyes for this tushy wiggling effort!!
