Album Notes

The new album, Stumble Inn is a semi-true autobiographical piece. I believe it contains both the best and the worst aspects of my personality. Hopefully it weaves them together through the course of the record to create a cohesive picture of who we all are, who we all want to be and whom we can maybe, someday become. My life has taken as many twists and turns as all of yours, most likely. I have loved a bit, lost a lot, made some big mistakes, but also tried to become a better person and artist.
You see, in some ways Stumble Inn is a confession of sorts. The record symbolizes a kind of perpetual purgatory where good intentions meet bad decisions. It should allow you the listener to make your own judgments about who I am and what I’m all about. I hope you can identify with my struggles on a visceral level and come to the conclusion that we are, all of us, one in the same. We are all trying to make it in this big world, tend to lose our way occasionally, fall down often, and pick ourselves up as best we can.
This has been a very personal record for me and therefore I can only wish that it will become a very personal record for you as well. My life thus far has been an incredible journey. I could bore you with specifics about my successes, my failures, or my family life, but I don’t think that it is necessary. I will however extend to you an invitation to know who I truly am through my words and my music. It doesn’t get any more “real” than that. I promise.

Thank you all for sharing the ride,

Robbie Gil

stumble inn is unlike anything i have ever heard before, and i listen to anything from underground metal to vivaldi, and it lifts me to another world and never fails in making me cry, especially settle down and stumble inn. purple hangs easy is sultry and honest. climbing up a ladder is dreamy and inspirational and tenacious. tin can and saving ophelia and marisa take away all the bad feelings within me at the moment and replace them with hope and a longing for something better. elizabeth, sometimes, gift, paper crown, and jesus of iowa all differ from each other but all tie together in the message that humans make mistakes but the point of making them is to learn from them and become a better person because of them. that is the point of stumble inn, to me, that is the point.

I first heard Robbie at The Living Room in NYC and was hooked by the way his voice embodies sweetness and raw emotion all in one. A singer with incredible expressive range and a talented songwriter. I was not disappointed by his first album. I'd been wanting a recording of "Tin Can" ever since I heard it live and I find myself playing "Settle Down" over and over. The thing is, this album is incredibly even and I really like every song on it. Check him out, you won't be sorry.
