"This is the debut solo release from Rob Bochnik who is also the guitarist with The Frames amongst other things. The first thing you notice when you listen to this album is the fact that this man can seriously play guitar and can quite easily swing from John Fahey like acoustic guitar picking style into rocking americana and good old style indie rock, the album opens up with a beautiful acoustic instrumental that either Fahey or Doc Watson would be proud of, the piano led track one precious led moment is a lovely piece of lush almost orchestral chamber pop before blackwater brings us right back to the deep south with more sublime acoustic guitar picking, things begin to really kick out on tracks like spawn of satan and far behind with some heavy indie grunge rock tinged with some country twang guitar licks reminding me of Bob Mould and his Sugar project, this is quite an excellent album from a guitarist who can pretty much turn his hand to any style he is in the mood for, highly recommended." -Dave at Road Records, Dublin
"When I was in college, I played in a band called Garden Bower with my best friend from childhood, he still plays music with his own group Frank Tribes and has records available here at CDBaby. My friend Dave Christensen formed Garden Bower in 1991 and asked myself and Frank to join. Dave still plays music and has a record out called "The Bosom and the Pool" also available at CDBaby. While in college, I also played in a group called The Butchershop Quartet with Dylan Posa, Rob Sullivan and Dan Sullivan. We took the "Rite of Spring" by Igor Stravinsky and arranged it, in its entirety, for rock band: two guitars, bass and drums. It has been recorded and fully scored out. While all this was happening, I had the pleasure and honor to work at Electrical Audio, a truely amazing and unique recording studio, the best in the world in my opinion. There I helped construct and maintain the studios. I also had the privilege of recording some amazing bands there and meeting some amazing musicians and friends. I worked there for about 8 years before I was asked to join The Frames. The Frames have finished "The Cost" and has been released in Ireland, Europe and the states. It is available on ANTI records. In the meantime I finished this record of my own songs, songs that have been kicking around for a while now. If you want to find out more, visit me at www.myspace.com/robbochnik
