Straight Up Rock and Roll. Well, ok, as close to straight up rock as this artist is ever likely to get- dont worry, still plenty of backwards guitars, odd rhythms random weirdness- but the songs are concise and to the point, and they Rock.

Album Notes

This one blows everything else out of the water.

I am very proud to present 'The Surreal EP' as I do believe it is my strongest effort to date- not only in comparison to my solo releases, but to all my previous recordings including professional sessions with Thunk and Mosquitohead.

And this one rocks, too. 'Breaking My Fingers' is a sort of post-punk break-up song, and it feels like the White Stripes meeting the Rolling Stones in a dark alley.

The disc opens with 'Squirrels' a nice jangly pop number mostly concerned with how crappy last year was- this one just sort of fell out of me as I was learning how to use my new recording gear- and closes with 'Good Guys & Bad Guys', a Camper Van Beethoven cover. They have always been a huge influence on me and I wanted to pay a sort of tribute to them, and especially to their dedicated fan base, the 'Crumbs'.

Crammed between these two is nothing but straight up rock and roll... well, ok, there is a little bit of weirdness thrown in. 'Let's Get Uncomfortable' sounds something like the British Invasion might have sounded if early '60's Liverpool had been inhabited by the likes of Frank Black, Steve Malkmus and John Linnell.

'Surreal', one of the slower selections, is a song that has been around a bit, but this new recording I believe breathes a new life into it.

The other slow song, 'Sometimes You Know' is pure love song. I had to converse extensively with Paul McCartney and Jeff Lynne by Ouija Board to pull this one off, and also the inspiration of a real life love story unfolding before my eyes.

'The Waiting Life' I have been told sounds a bit like the Grateful Dead and a bit like Bob Dylan. This one has more words than the rest, again, like most of this disc, they just sort of fell out of me after i pressed 'record'. Put all together, the cd has a tightness in its composition, the songs are diverse but lead into each other well; and whole thing is crisp and shiny and made fresh to order.

I hope everyone enjoys:)
