Album Notes

In short, I was born and raised Salvadorian, musically educated in Canada and currently living in Calgary working as a freelance guitarist and instructor. If you would like more information about me and my music, please visit my website at www.serpasmusic.com. Here are some short blurbs about my discography:

In 1997 I founded with Memo the guitar duo "Serpas Brothers". We recorded our first self-titled CD the following year, 1998. It consists of two nylon string guitars trading back and forth vigorous soloing over traditional and original material. Its overall sound is festive, aggressive on the riffs, however, of light listening since the recording consists of only two guitars.

In 2002 I released my first solo CD titled "Estival". This album includes nine solo guitar selections which I wrote and perfected while working as a classical guitarist. According to listeners, it has a dark, haunting (like the catacombs in Spain) and an ancestral classical guitar sound that is imbedded into world-beat guitar techniques.

In the summer of 2003 I started to record "Morning in Eden", and it was released early summer of the following year, 2004. This is my Latin fusion CD and so far, my best progressive-instrumental effort.
It also happily coincided with the birth of my cyberspace entity:
www.serpasmusic.com. This one I truly recommend to modern instrumental Latin/New age music lovers.

"Gardens of Guadalupe", released on 2007, is a fun production of oldies and traditional tunes arranged as latin dance rhythms and interpreted by myself (except in "Serpas Brothers", I always record all my tracks). This CD avoids the seriousness of the past three.
However, it features for the first time my voice and vocal arrangements. If you want dance tunes with guitar fireworks, this is your CD, baby.

I currently work as a freelance guitarist and teach the glorious instrument at Mount Royal College in Calgary. Thanks for listening to the music and drop me an e-mail line with your feedback.
Cuidate.

Roberto Serpas.
