Album Notes

Bay Area native Rob Hart leads his Trio through an eclectic and exhilarating mix of exquisitely crafted jazz originals, standards, heady fusion compositions and popular tunes on this ambitious 2006 double disc release. Recorded live at San Francisco’s own Club Jazz Nouveau in 2003 and 2004, this sophomore effort from Rob Hart follows the innovative lead of his previous studio release, “Trios of the Past, Present & Future,” with the best of Bay Area talent and a finesse and passion for jazz improvisation.

Pianist and long-time collaborator John Seppala, and bassists Aaron Germain, Brad Russell (Rick Derringer), and John Witala (Jessica Williams) join Hart on this musical journey through improvisation, tackling original piano-driven and percussive compositions, as well as works by influential jazz and fusion greats Herbie Hancock, Jan Hammer, Jobim, John Coltrane, and Chick Corea. Hart’s best moments as the consummate bandleader, composer, and supreme improviser are demonstrated here in the live arena as no studio recording can adequately capture.
