Album Notes
The third album from this veteran singer/songwriter, "The Bend" is a reflection of a profound period of life for Rob Holzer. His voice and spirit shine through pain, loss, and suffering as he ultimately arrives on the road to wisdom and liberation. Song by song, the listener journeys through the vicissitudes and insights with Rob as experienced as a result of his transformational change. Ultimately Rob looks at this time as a precious gift and the music reflects this sentiment with honesty, humor, wit, and grace.

I have so many people to thank for both the contents of this album, and for supporting me through my recent life which inspired this music. Thanks to Matteo and Serafina both bring me unfathomable joy and light, Julian and Carol who are my daily example of how to be fantastic parents, my brother Rick, who was and is there for me as I am for him, Seth, Billy, Loni, John, Sascha, Miles, Rachel, Tiffany, Gene, Nancy, John, Anya, Josh, Sasha, Christophe, Teresa, Kendra, Jackie, Eric, Aarona, and Russ who are always a phone call away, and of course the Matter family and all my friends past, present and future. I love you all.

Thanks to the band: Scott for conceiving and hatching this record with me and for bringing his immense talent to bare, Jason for taking on the producer's hat and lending his ridiculous chops and musicianship, Sean and Mark - NYC's finest on drums and bass, Brianna for the beautiful voice and friendship, Chris at the Coop and Ted at the Magic Shop, Dave at Sterling Sound, and Ji for the artwork.

Thanks to my teachers at Tibet House, New York Insight Meditation Center, Downtown Meditation, Downtown Meditation Community, Darma Punx, Ananda Ashram, and Lineage Project - half of the proceeds from the sale of these songs will go to support these organizations.

Thanks to Kula and Vira Yoga, Yogaworks, Team Van Vorst cyclists, Racebrook Lodge, Hyper Island, TED, Clinton Global Initiative, Karen Armstrong, President Bill Clinton, President Barak Obama, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Thich Nant Hanh, Pema Chodron, Bob Marley, John Lennon, and the Buddha.

This album is dedicated to the memory of Kenny Moscot. RIP brother - we made it around the bend.

"Be lamps unto yourselves.
Be refuges unto yourselves.
Take yourself no external refuge.
Hold fast to the truth as a lamp.
Hold fast to the truth as a refuge.
Look not for a refuge in anyone besides yourselves.

And those, Ananda, who either now or after I am dead,
Shall be a lamp unto themselves,
Shall betake themselves as no external refuge,
But holding fast to the truth as their lamp,
Holding fast to the truth as their refuge,
Shall not look for refuge to anyone else besides themselves,
It is they who shall reach to the very topmost height;
But they must be anxious to learn."
