Album Notes

Robin Greenstein and Cecilia Kirtland are independent singers and songwriters who grew up together on Long Island and first met as students at the Guitar Workshop in Roslyn, NY, a legendary music school who boasted such teachers as Charlie Chin, Peter Tork and Paul Brady. They have had longtime separate careers in teaching and performing while occasionally playing and singing together (you can often hear Cecilia adding background vocals on Robin's original music CDs).

Around 2000, in response to a booking request, they put together a concert program based on their respective holiday traditions and "Songs of the Season" was born. Robin and Cecilia are both adept guitar finger-pickers and the album features many songs with intricate guitar arrangements, as well as swinging tunes featuring harmonica, pedal steel, fiddle, flute and lots of percussion. And of course, their voices blend seamlessly with incredible harmonies. Special musical guests include LIsa Gutkin of the Klezmatics who lends her violin to the Chanukah Medley, Ken "the Rocket" Korb on smoking harp, Mike Nugent (of legendary L.I. band Cadillac Moon), etc.

Early reviews: "You are prominently featured on my 12/12 program this coming Sunday - great CD and covers all the bases so beautifully in an ecumenical way" BIll Hahn, Host of "Sunday Simcha" on WDFU-FM.

Your New CD Brings Joy to My Heart.

I must tell you how much I enjoyed your CD "Songs Of The Season". There's something here for everybody, young and old, Christian and Jew. Your choice of songs, the arrangements, your vocal harmonies, in several languages, as well as your musicianship, are all absolutely perfect. The whole album is upbeat, lighthearted, original and bright. "Songs...." is well worth listening to, not only during the Holiday Season, but throughout the year. I want to buy another CD to give as a gift. Very well done, ladies. But don't stop here...... More, please......

I just got this CD and LOVE it! I'm a teacher and I play it in my class room all the time. It's perfect as I have children who celebrate Hanukah, Christmas and Kwanzaa. It's playing while we make menorahs and while we decorate Christmas trees! I love the opening medley...and the harmonies are soooo pretty! It's a new holiday favorite for me, for sure!

Celebrate the Holidays

I can't think of a more perfect Audio CD for the Winter Holiday Season than Songs of the Season. It will bring a smile to your face and a glow to your soul. No matter who you are or how old you are from the ages of 5 to 95 there is a song here that will put you into the spirit of the Holidays without Holiday spirits. All the holidays are given their due ,but for me my favorites are the very original and fun filled "Celebrate Chanucha'" which you will be singing along with your kids and the very Tropical and nostalgic Mele Kalkimaka whose authentic and traditional instrumentalisation wil take you to the Hawaiian Islands without the body scan. i loved every song here and I dare say that i will be listening to it all year long. Make yourself happy and buy it for your family . Make your friends and relatives happy this holiday season and get it for them as a gift.

Perfect All Purpose Happy Holiday CD
author: Shirley Ranz

I got this CD too late. i would have loved to have listened to it with friends, family, and significant others for Chanucha while chowing down potato pancakes with sweet white wine. The Song "Celebrate Chanucha" would have captured the joy everyone was experiencing at the time. To late for Chanucha but just in time for Christmas and Kwanza. Just found out that Jingle Bells would have been appropriate for Thanksgiving too which make this CD good for a long time during the year. But if you ask me,"Why can't it be the Happy Holiday Season the Whole year Around". You'll want to keep Songs of the Season handy just in case the mood strikes.
