Sweet Dreams...
It is always a tricky business when you have the opportunity to first hear a musical project from someone you like as a friend. I can honestly say that the new CD by Robinson/Moncrieffe, "Rorschach Happy Love Skull" can receive my recommendation even beyond the benefit of a personal knowledge of Adam Robinson and his devotion to this project. It does add another dimension when you know how much hard work goes into a project, but the ultimate judgment comes in the final result. And I am enjoying this result very much.
They start with the rock solid vocals with maximum melody and add lush amounts of harmony and poppy rhythms for a nice thick sound. At times it is reminiscent of the psychedelic moodiness of the late 60's-early 70's with some 80's beats layered over, and add ample doses of recording effects and special instrumental touches. Mood music and dreamy vibes with lots of levels of interest. This music is good company.
