One of the best kept secrets of the experimental music scene in Denmark is undoubtedly the music of Danish born Robin Taylor.
"As for Robin Taylor and his creation as a whole, in my honest opinion, he is undoubtedly one of the most inspired, inventive, and innovative composers of the Progressive Rock movement. If you consider yourself a real connoisseur of progressive music, not to mention ProGfessor, you shouldn't miss the opportunity to enrich your collection with such wonderful albums as those by Taylor's Universe, Robin Taylor and Taylor's Free Universe." -- Vitaly Menshikov, ProgressoR
The music of Robin Taylor is a cross-over of music in almost every thinkable direction, but with a solid foundation in rock and jazz. Though he's playing most of the instruments himself, he's been privileged to include several outstanding capacities in his productions - especially sax-player Karsten Vogel (of Burnin Red Ivanhoe and Secret Oyster fame) and trumpet-player Hugh Steinmetz (voted Danish Jazz Musician of the Year 1966). Since 2000 he has furthermore been the leader of the ensemble Taylor's Free Universe, comprising among others Karsten Vogel and French violinist Pierre Tassone.
Personal influences: King Crimson, The Canterbury Scene, Bill Frisell, Brian Eno, Secret Oyster, Bela Bartok, Charles Ives (to name but a few...)
"All those eager to listen to Progressive Rock that would be not only fresh and at all points, but also highly complex and interesting, you'll just love Pork." (Six stars)

My first Robin Taylor CD, won't be my last

Colorful, eccentric sounds. The CD moves forward with a nice flow- you don't have the sense of listening to separate tracks, everything kind of segues into everything else. The mood is constantly shifting with the sonic terrain, from serious to playful and back again. Again, colorful, eccentric sounds. That's a good thing. But the best quality of this CD is that it makes you(me, at any rate)want to hear more.
