Album Notes

One of the best kept secrets of the experimental music scene in Denmark is undoubtedly the music of Danish born Robin Taylor.

"As for Robin Taylor and his creation as a whole, in my honest opinion, he is undoubtedly one of the most inspired, inventive, and innovative composers of the Progressive Rock movement. If you consider yourself a real connoisseur od progressive music. not to mention ProGfessor, you shouldn't miss the opportunity to enrich your collection with such wonderful albums as those by Taylor's Universe, Robin Taylor and Taylor's Free Universe." -- Vitaly Menshikov, ProgressoR

The music of Robin Taylor is a cross-over of music in almost every thinkable direction, but with a solid foundation in rock and jazz. Though he's playing most of the instruments himself, he's been privileged to include several outstanding capacities in his productions - especially sax-player Karsten Vogel (of Burnin Red Ivanhoe and Secret Oyster fame) and trumpet-player Hugh Steinmetz (voted Danish Jazz Musician of the Year 1966). Since 2000 he has furthermore been the leader of the ensemble Taylor's Free Universe, comprising among others Karsten Vogel and French violinist Pierre Tassone.

Personal influences: King Crimson, The Canterbury Scene, Bill Frisell, Brian Eno, Secret Oyster, Bela Bartok, Charles Ives (to name but a few...)

"Having made a name of himself in the world of free jazz, Robin Taylor proves to us that he`s not a one-trick pony. This collection of songs is a bubbling cauldron of melody, melancholy and mayhem all guided by an expert hand."
-- Sea of Tranquility

"...Nevertheless, two strange compositions just aren`t able to mar the virtues of this album, and there are plenty of them here. No, I consider Robin Taylor one of the contemporary Titans of Prog not for nothing." (five stars)
-- ProgressoR
