Album Notes

This is the second installment of my musical catharsis.

9 of the 10 songs here were originally on a compilation that I did 5 years ago for a dozen or so friends who needed proof that I actually did write songs rather than just talk about it. I had lots of old recordings sitting around, some half-finished, some done on a tape 4 track about 10 years previous. Anyway, it was generally well received. And that was that.

3 years later and I thought I'd make an effort to finish some other songs - 6 months more and that became my first album, "a simple plan". Again the critical response was favourable, so from October 2004 to March 2005, I re-recorded these songs and now I've got a second album, "...hanging in the air".

There's a mix of styles depending on my mood when writing and also my mood when recording. I never try and write a particular genre of song, but as I work alone with a piano or guitar, they generally come out small. Sometimes during the recording process they get bigger. I spend a lot of time writing a song, and it's sometimes years before they're ready.
