Album Notes

Robin Wynn has done it again with her second CD, the follow-up to 2004's Oblivion. The Broken Sky EP features the singer/songwriter in her "native element" of acoustic guitars and polished harmonies, a "folksier" aspect than the rock and roll tones of the debut record, which she continues to explore with her band in live shows.

Produced by her long-time partner and collaborator, Mark Goldstein, Wynn's sophomore effort includes some of her best writing to date. The title track, "Broken Sky," opens the record with a dusty tale of love and longing, propelled by guest percussionist Stuart Gunter's driving drum and Wynn's own guitar. "Iron Rose" follows, an intimate missive to a lost love one, supported with the shadow of Goldstein's harmony rising up from underneath the lilting lyric. "Hate How I Love You So," an homage to 1940's influences, is a tongue-in-cheek depiction of love so good it drives you crazy; and is followed by the haunting "The Bells," the lament of a spirit recently departed. Closing out the record with an intriguing blend of organic and electronic elements is "Terminal," one of the Wynn's finest works to date.
