About Rob Levit and The Rob Levit Trio

Rob Levit is a guitarist, composer, poet, painter and educator. His guitar work and compositions blend traditional jazz structure and motifs with state of the art technology, creating a sound that is uniquely his own. In Rob's world, Ornette Coleman and Pat Metheny are contemporaries. Post-bop sax becomes a hard driving guitar, masterfully strangled, caressed, plucked and picked over rivers of melodies and complex chordal harmonies.

The Rob Levit Trio, featuring Frank Russo on drums and Amy Shook on bass, explores territories as familiar as Bob Marley and Sting and as exotic as those the Cassini spacecraft is currently mapping around Saturn. The far-out and the familiar never sounded so tempting! The Rob Levit Trio handles both with virtuoso dexterity, creativity and musicianship.

Rob Levit, a full-time music educator, currently lives in Annapolis, Maryland and is Artist-in-Residence at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts.
