Album Notes

Rob Schilling was born and raised in the Pasadena area of Los Angeles, California. While in high school and through the early years of his college education, he studied music with a variety of private teachers. Upon graduation from college, Rob pursued postgraduate studies in music at the prestigious Musicians Institute, of Hollywood, California.

Throughout much of the 1980s, Rob performed both locally and nationwide, and recorded original compositions with renowned bands The Sneaks, Blue Frontier, and the Prime Movers. In addition, Rob's backing vocals are featured on several recordings of talented Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter, Keith Chagall.

After following his musical dreams in the secular world for more than a decade, Rob was called upon by his church pastor to lend his musical talents to a newly forming youth choir. His acceptance of that position led him down a new path-one that drew him closer to God through the beauty and joy of creating music to honor Him.

Rob has become well known in the Los Angeles area for his moving, original compositions, based upon the Psalms, and for his fresh arrangements and musical interpretation of both modern and traditional Christian music. His recent recordings have been enjoyed by groups and individuals throughout the world.

The collection of songs featured in "Sing a Psalm" is the end product of Rob's musical influences, which range from 70s AM Gold to Contemporary R&B Gospel, and much in between. The contrast in styles, works, though, as each song is a unique gift, returned to God in thanksgiving for His goodness.

In their search for a more peaceful, serene way of life, Rob and his family have moved and now make their home in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia.

This CD compiles different kinds/genre of music under one umbrella. It shows how an artist can bring Gospel, Irish, celtic, contemporary and traditional feeling to sing the psalms. Great voice and musicality.
