Album Notes

MAZE is the musical story of a wanderer in the times before the coming of the European to Turtle Island. Journeying from his home on the vast plains to unknown lands to the south and to the west. Our wanderer seeks new people and new experiences.

After traveling alone for many months, he enters into a strange land where the air is dry and clear and the cliffs tall and steep and inscribed by many pictographs. One mysterious design draws his attention. In it a man stands at the entrance of a maze and like our wanderer, the man faces a choice of paths and no clear outcome. This mysterious design is a symbol of the mystery of life for all men.

Maze was the Native American Music Awards winner as Best New Age Album of 1999. "Bird Song" was runner-up as Best Song of the Year.

The Artists:

Tony Redhouse - percussionist - (Navajo) performs with groups ranging in style from rhythm and blues, funk, jazz, to Afro-Cuban; and because of this diversity in styles, considers himself a worldbeat percussionist. Redhouse feels the Native American Drumbeat is the foundation of his drumming but has been influenced by artists like Mongo Santamaria, Candido and Cal Tjader.

Robert Tree Cody of Dakota-Maricopa heritage has appeared throughout the United States, Canada Korea, Japan, Central & South America and Europe as a flutist & singer and dancer. He is a prize winning traditional dancer and is well known on the pow-wow circuit. Tree has performed before the Queen of England.

Rob Wallace at age nine began playing the organ which sharpened his ears for manipulating sounds into new musical forms. He built his first recording studio in 1964 and branched out into composing music for film, radio, and television. He is one of the leading developers of music for educational computer games and multi-media products. Rob is presently working on a follow up album to "Serenity Now."
