Album Notes

I am ridiculously happy and proud to announce the release of my 2nd CD: "Indian Summer." This CD represents a year in the making and includes 13 originals, two traditional gospel hymns, and one bonus track. The songs are thematically linked to home and family, dreams and memories, faith and hopes. It's a good collection. I chose Indian Summer as a title for several reasons: it is one of the song titles, it is my favorite time of year- crisp and full of color, it is a season that bridges the extremes, it is my time of life, a time when you can both look behind and look ahead.

I recorded it at Overdub Studio, in Durham, NC with John Plymale at the controls - he did a great job capturing my voice and I was blessed with wonderful sessions. Brent Lambert of Kitchen Mastering mastered it.

Joining me on the CD on three tracks are my sister, my two daughters, and five of my nieces (ranging in age from 12 to 24). There is something to the genetic blend of family singers. Check out Hallelujah, My Shepherd, Never Grow Old. (It is also my niece, Bethany Tobin's art work that graces the covers and my nephew-in-law Jacob Thomas graphic and design work.)

Another treat is the concertina and fiddle playing of Mary Eldridge and Sarah Rubin. They are on four tracks. I met them at the Hillsborough Farmer's Market last year and was immediately drawn to their sound. It was a pleasure work with them on this project.

Lise Uyanik's beautiful voice provides harmony throughout.

The other musicians who are a part of this, all of whom did amazing jobs, are:
Bob Mutter, on djembe and congas, lays down wonderful grooves particularly on Corner Market and Go Stand Up On the Mountain.
My Silver co-horts Curt Stagner and Linda Phillips lend their voices and instruments. Curt plays his complementary guitar on five tunes, and Linda her mandolin on one cut.
Lew Wardel plays an enthusiastic bass, Wes Lachot his gospel keyboard, Dave Stuntz his pastoral piano, and Rob Van Veld his Irish drum.
Even my husband Tom Prince contributed his tabla drumming on the title cut.

It is just hard too hard to contain my unabashed enthusiasm for this CD. I want to share it with you.
