Rochelle makes her home in Seattle, Washington, where she has been raising four wild and creative young artists. After twenty years of focusing on raising children, she has returned to her devotion of jazz. Rochelle studied music theory, studio singing and jazz harmony at the College of the Redwoods and Golden West College in California. Recently she received her bachelor's degree from Antioch University, Seattle. She is proud to be introducing her music to the world on her debut recording entitled “Dreams of Love.” The title of the cd comes from an art piece by Rosemary, her ten-year-old daughter; the logo design of “Rochouserecords” was created by her son, Raven, who is thirteen.
“Dreams of Love” represents a collaborative effort with pianist and professor Marc Seales. Their first intention was to make a good record. Rochelle listens to instrumental jazz and challenges the tradition that expects singers to be the focal point in vocal recordings or performance. She plays with great players and creates musical situations that attract great listeners. For Rochelle, it has been a labor of love—and now it is a work of art.

I wanted to make a recording that was both musically sound and emotionally valid. I wanted it to groove, but still be Real Jazz. I intended for it to be more than just a showcase for my singing, for it to be about all of us. I asked Marc Seales to help me make this recording because of his musical integrity, command of groove, and exquisite soloing, as well as his ability to lead a band. Marc gathered Dave Captein and Gary Hobbs, two Portland musicians with whom he has played for many years. Marc produced the basic tracks and then I took over and finished the production. I hope that you will find it to be good for your soul.
peace

Dreams of Love is like an answered prayer
author: Michael Killen (The Killens)
I had the pleasure of attending Golden West College with Rochelle some years ago and had great times recording and performing with this supremely talented woman. As a student, I recall producing some sessions for her that included a beautiful version of “Lazy Afternoon.” It was a mezmerizing performance captured live in the studio that left those of us in the booth speechless. From time to time I have played that recording wondering whatever happened to one of my favorite singers of all time. I was floored to find this disc and to discover Rochelle alive and well and in top vocal form. Just to hear her sing “Lazy Afternoon” once again is like an answered prayer. Rochelle, welcome home to where you have always belonged!

Deep without being heavy - makes me think of Julie London.
author: Sally Wicks
(You'd have to be over 50 to remember Julie London.) I tend to concentrate on the vocal, rather than the band. Rochelle's voice is soothing, at once warm and cool, and her singing full of sincerity. Yes, the band is great, but I could listen to Rochelle a cappella and enjoy her singing just as much.

A profound new voice and a killer band. Ms. House is it!
author: Davie-Blue Bacich
Sad and deep, Dreams of Love is great to relax to. The songs are very well chosen and the originals are outstanding. This band has a true grasp of the essence of jazz---they groove and provoke. Light a fire, sip some wine and enjoy the beauty that is this album.
