Album Notes

Composer, lyricist, and pianist, Eugenie Ricau Rocherolle has had a long and successful publishing career writing for piano. Her repertoire is known for its variety of styles ranging from the classical to the upbeat while her arrangements feature show tunes, jazz classics, holiday and folk music, hymns and traditional spirituals. A native of New Orleans, she graduated from Newcomb College of Tulane University with a year of study in Paris. She began publishing in choral music followed by works for concert band. Her creative output also includes vocal and chamber music, works for chorus and orchestra and musical theater. A member of ASCAP, she is active with the National League of American Pen Women, the Music Teachers National Association, and Connecticut Composers, Inc. Her biographical profile appears in the Baker’s Biographical Dictionary of Classical Musicians, the International Who’s Who in Music, The Popular Guide to Women in Classical Music, The World of Women in Classical Music, Who’s Who of American Women and Who’s Who in the East.
With "Touch of Blue," Rocherolle returns to her New Orleans roots with her own original blues numbers, boogies, popular dances and more. Concert artist, Julie Rivers, does the honors on piano while a bit of drums and bass round out this upbeat and engaging album.
