Album Notes

(Los Angeles, 12 June 2006) Acclaimed American progressive rock legends Rocket Scientists have returned to the studio after an 8 year hiatus and are proud to announce the forthcoming release of their new epic double album, "Revolution Road". Combining Rocket Scientists' extraordinary blend of melodic and memorable songwriting with adventurous instrumental fireworks, "Revolution Road" takes the band to new heights of artistic achievement. Founding members Mark McCrite (guitar, vocals), Erik Norlander (keyboards) and Don Schiff (NS/Stick) started writing and demoing songs for the album in 2002 and even played some California concert dates. But following the loss of their drummer, Shaun Guerin, the project was put on hold. The three musicians continued to collaborate on other projects including Lana Lane's "Winter Sessions" and "Lady Macbeth" CDs and Norlander's "Music Machine" concept album. Norlander also produced Don Schiff's remarkable 2005 solo album, "Peering Over Clouds". But following the Lana Lane 10th Anniversary Tour in 2005, McCrite, Norlander and Schiff officially reunited again as Rocket Scientists and began to record this new studio opus.

"Revolution Road" brings two new musicians to the Rocket Scientists universe. Drummer Gregg Bissonette, who previously played on Norlander's "Music Machine" and Lana Lane's "Covers Collection" and "Winter Sessions" CDs, brings his dynamic versatility and technical excellence to the band. South Carolina's David McBee has also been brought in as the second lead vocalist. McBee's powerful hard rock vocal ethic is the perfect contrast to McCrite's smooth and warm vocal stylings. Together, the two vocalists are a formidable pair that take Rocket Scientists to new uncharted worlds. "Revolution Road" is produced by Erik Norlander, and it contains stunning artwork from Polish surrealist Jacek Yerka who painted the cover to the band's last album, "Oblivion Days", Schiff's solo album, "Peering Over Clouds", as well the unforgettable covers that appear on the many famous Lana Lane albums. "Revolution Road" is a new milestone for Rocket Scientists, and it is one that will surely send the band to new altitudes. The album will be released on the Avalon label in Japan on September 23, 2006 and worldwide through Think Tank Media and ProgRock Records on November 7, 2006. The countdown begins!

About the band ...

Rocket Scientists was formed in the late 1980s by keyboardist Erik Norlander and vocalist / guitarist Mark McCrite. The two released their first CD, "Earthbound", in 1993 joined by then - session bassist Don Schiff. Schiff quickly became a part of the band for their second release in 1995, "Brutal Architecture", and the three toured in the US and Europe in 1997 along with drummer Tommy Amato culminating in the live CD, "Earth Below and Sky Above: Live in Europe and America". In 1999, Rocket Scientists released "Oblivion Days", raising the bar on already high expectations. At the turn of the century, Norlander, Schiff and McCrite all worked on solo projects in addition to backing symphonic rock vocal icon, Lana Lane on several tours around the world. The fall of 2006 will bring the band's fourth studio album, "Revolution Road", a bold statement from these accomplished artists.

This Is Really Something. Excellent!

Rocket Scientists "Revolution Road" stands out from the crowd, being a progressive CD, including vocals and very good melodies. If I have to mention just one track, it must be "Dream In Red". Amazing stuff all together! But - what can possibly go wrong when Mark McCrite, Erik Norlander, Don Schiff, Gregg Bissonette and David McBee join forces? This is complete solid work from the first to the last tune. If you do like modern Progressive Hard Rock, including a bit of pop and very good vocals, it's just one thing to say: Buy the CD! You won't regret it. Truly amazing!

Most Outstanding Work!

Progressive rock has very few true standouts, and Rocket Scientists can be counted in as one of those very few. Since 1999, there had been no releases by the group, up until the current double CD of Revolution Road, and what a stellar album this is! The band has always combined progressive rock with pop that can be described as a throwback to the Beatles, and this work is perhaps the best thing they have ever done. Founding members Mark McCrite (guitar, vocals), Erik Norlander (keyboards) and Don Schiff are joined by two new musicians on this CD; drummer Gregg Bissonette, and South Carolina’s David McBee has also been brought in as the second lead vocalist. Norlander also delivers a virtuoso performance of synthesizer leads and organ, rounding out a grand effect. Rocket Scientists paint vivid images of better worlds on Revolution Road in songs such as “Savor Every Moment.” “Gypsy (Of A Strange and Distant Time),” near the end of disc one, blends in beautifully with all the other selections on the album. “After the Revolution,” “Ptolemy,“ and “Hold That Thought” have far-reaching instrumentals that show off the founding members’ outstanding overall abilities as musicians. Fans who have the opportunity to own Revolution Road will not be disappointed in the least; this proves that the long wait for a new Rocket Scientists release was above and beyond worth every moment.
