Album Notes

The Rocking Chairs is a group of 50-ish (we'll never tell) rock and rollers who grew up listening to and playing music during the British Invasion of the 60's and 70's. In 2004, we decided to form a band "just for fun" to celebrate our similar musical backgrounds and tastes in music.

To poke a little fun at our advancing years, we decided to call ourselves "The Rocking Chairs". Our musical influences include the classic rock of The Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Creedence, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Cream.

So, the four friends came together to jam and share our love for classic rock. Over the next year we met four more times, learning a few new tunes at each meeting. What started out as a "one time jam session" soon became a "full-time ob-session". Spread across the country, we had to find a way to keep the band in sync during the long months between sessions. We decided to do live recordings of each song so that we could rehearse when seperated. The songs on this CD, with the addition of a very few guitar overdubs and minimal post-processing, are the result of those recordings. The recordings are RAW, but with punch. But, almost everyone (not just people who love us) who has listened to the songs has said they hear "something" worth sharing. Just after this Cd was released, the band returned from a tour of Liverpool and Mathew Street and The Cavern Club. This CD was what got us the gigs. This CD of "Raw" materials is dedicated to everyone who has provided us with the support and encouragement to keep moving forward over the past year. A mini-wave has begun with European rock and blues radio stations asking for permission to play RAW on their airwaves. A huge band from Liverpool, KAPPA, has asked The Rocking Chairs to open for them at various gigs across England and we are jointly working on a tour of various USA sites together. Please take this ride with us........

I enjoyed this music tremendously
I got my Rocking Chairs Cd and slammed the music into my soul by listening to it about six times through (my usual anlysis method). It reminded me of many things, many artists, nostalgic moments from the past, and I liked it. I'd so love to have a studio quality cd of their stuff because their energy is great and the songs get your body wanting to move. Thanks guys, keep on rocking.

Incredible energy with a passion for "Rock & Roll"
Right from the start, the Rocking Chairs grabbed my interest and got me moving. Their energy and passion for Rock & Roll was extremely evident. I enjoyed the mix of Blues intertwined into the cd. My high school and middle school sons both put tracks onto their iPod devices. Keep up the good work!

My name is Kathleen. I just wanted you to know that your CD's arrived this morning. I have just listened to each CD once through and I really, really enjoyed them. You all sound as though you were having a ball. I am around your age and used to go and see The Beatles performing at the Cavern when I was about 14 years old, I shouldn't have been in there really, too young, but I'm almost 6ft tall so I didn't have a problem getting in. I hope no-one was looking through my window whilst I was playing your Cd's as I was dancing all around the room like a lunatic, but there was no way I could have just sat and listened, the music was too infectious. I'm going to listen to them again now and dance a few pounds off. Anyway I'm off now I've got some great music to listen to, can't sit all day chatting. Best regards Kathleen

Raw .... or Should it be ROAR !!
Can I keep this off my CD Player ?.... NO WAY

Fantastic !...

Enthusiam exhumes from everywhere and the guys love of rock music really shows on this.Crossraods is the pivotal track where the above really shines.
The version of Back in the USSR puts the Fab Four to shame

Guys, return to UK as soon as possible

Your music deserves a much far,far wider audience

Keep on making fantastic music

I can't quit playing this CD!
Raw actually makes me get up and dance; what a great feeling! If you want the "good vibrations" to flow, buy this CD! I just love the strong, sexy drum beat, the blue-sy, singing guitars and the infectious voice of Craig Pursley.

Keep in mind that this CD was not recorded in a full recording studio setting. I can't wait until the Chairs do that!

You know, the young guys can re-do all the oldies they want, but they will never be able to capture the spirit and the soul that us baby boomers actually experienced from the songs of the 60s and 70s! The Rocking Chairs do exactly that!

Ease CD in player; lay back & instruments sing & talk. Vocals ****
CD is highly entertaining & energy of band is easy to listen & rock to. $$$ well spent. I'll purchase their next release; should add a video track or two.
