Album Notes

About The Rocking Chairs
The Rocking Chairs is a group of Baby Boomer rock and rollers who grew up listening to and playing music during the British Invasion of the 60's and 70's. In 2004, they decided to form a band "just for fun" to celebrate their similar musical backgrounds and tastes in music. What began as a "jam-session".......turned into an"ob-session", with gigs opening up all over the country and Liverpool, England. The Rocking Chairs' musical backgrounds go all the way back as far as 1964 when they formed their first bands in California and Nebraska.

Their musical influences include the classic rock of the 60s and 70s, including The Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Creedence, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Grand Funk, and Cream.

“The Rush”: it’s either playing a live show to a sold out audience – or recording music together in the studio live. We much prefer recording together in the same room….reading each other’s enthusiasm, and getting to that place where nothing matters but the music. Our goal here is to give you a taste of both – the feel of a live show along with a layered studio recording. All of the songs on this album start as one take recorded live in the studio. With the covers, you are basically hearing it as it was performed – with only our guitars, acoustic drums, and our voices, though we may pop in a touch of flavor here and there in post-production. The original songs received the layered studio treatment.

This is our second album: 5 original songs and 5 cover songs that are favorites of ours and those at our live performances. We add our own spice into the arrangement of a cover song, giving it a stamp that makes it our own. Our originals are the latest from a backlog of songs that number in the dozens – just waiting for the time when we can bring them to the studio and then to you. Each of us adds our individualism to each song making it a true collaborative effort.

The Rocking Chairs sound so good and have so much fun playing together both in the studio and live and that definitely comes thru in their songs. Not only do they put their own awesome spins on some classic songs but their originals also show their talent. They are on their way to making these original songs classics as well. Congrats to them for making another great album! I definitely recommend seeing them live...you're sure to have a good time!!!

risky business

If you're going to cover monster rock songs from Dylan, Hendrix, Beatles, Stones and Joe Walsh you have to be brave and talented or else plain stupid. Fortunately, The Rocking Chairs fall into the first of those categories and manage to put their own mark on those clasic tracks (my favourite is All Alomg the Watchtower) with some originality and great musicianship. It sounds like they were enjoying themselves too. (I've been fortunate enough to see them live and they do have a good time on stage.) The original material is good too - mixing the new with the old is a recipe that works well for these mature rockers. I will certainly be playing this album on Darkhorse Radio and recommend it to all fans of the genre. Alan www.DarkhorseRadio.com

Great rocking sounds from a group keeping the 60's-70's alive. Especially like the opening "Magic Jack" what a beat and great lyrics. This group needs to be watched, could break out.
