The Rockinghams are John Huber and Mark Mullen. In the late 1970's John Huber and Mark Mullen embarked on a musical journey spanning twenty years and counting.
Impromptu jam sessions on park benches and at house parties around their hometown of Norfolk Virginia laid the foundation for one of the first all original music rock bands in the area at that time.
'It was difficult to get paying gigs doing all original music,'remembers John.
We eventually mixed some cover tunes into our sets and then we started getting more work around town.
Over the years John and Mark would go on to play in many different bands covering everything from country to dance.
From acoustic folk to rock n roll. But they would always return to playing the bluesy roots rock originals that are their true musical passion.
Growing up just a few miles apart and going to the same school,Mark and John were drawn together by the love of playing blues harmonica and telling bad jokes. The two self described hambones have always loved performing in front of a crowd.
Playing to audiences in clubs all over southeastern Virginia and the outer banks of North Carolina for the past twenty years,Mark and John got to be pretty good at playing guitars and harmonicas, not to mention being able to belt out inspiring vocals all night long as well.
Their goal now is to reach a higher level by taking the music of The Rockinghams to a much larger audience.
The release of their long awaited full length CD GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS reaffirms their commitment to reaching the goals they have set for themselves.
