Album Notes

In the pioneer spirit of famous loners like Jimmy Castor, Wendy Carlos, and Prince, RockStarMatt writes, performs, records and produces all of his own material.

His musical style spreads full spectrum, from riff rock to hip hop, and from ambient to traditional Hawaiian. RSM matches his compositional ecclecticism with his choice of instrumentation, which contains analog and digital devices, as well as a multitude of tradional rock and hip hop instrumentation.

Musical influences:
Freestyle Fellowship, Bow Wow Wow, Deep Purple, Bad Brains, Gabby Pahinui, Don Buchla, and the Atari 2600.

Artist history:
RockStarMatt was a founding member of Seattle pre-grunge phenom Quigzystick, and is currently a video game sound designer in Seattle, WA. He also spent 4 years as music director at college radio station KAOS in Olympia, WA.

REVIEWS

This is music for people who like variety.

I was searching around and came across this by accident. The promise of 'eclectic' drew me in and I like the "one guy does everything" aspect as well. It's not for pop music fans who want something instantly catchy, but there are hooky choruses. Only...they lie buried amongst the insanity. RECOMMENDED.

Barry Manilow meets Frank Zappa and Steve Vai. Surprisingly powerful and vibrant

Have you ever fallen out of bed after you turned 20? Its really embarassing when your mom comes into your room at noon and finds you laying on the floor naked with a sheet wrapped around you and Peter Tosh's "Legalize It" still playing on auto-repeat. If you thought that was an interesting time in your life like I did, you're going to love Armaghetto. The opening track takes you back to the days when Cinderella and Poison made you hate white chick wannabes and Ozzy Osbourne was drinking heavily. The flow of the tracks seemlessly blend into one another creating a sounds scape worthy of an incredibly cool, but unheard of cult movie (remember Killer Clowns From Outerspace?). If you are a Tori Amos fan you will love the interview and learn what she's really about - her view on politics, hunting, chewing tobacco, and wrinkle-free dress shirts. satanbaby@mac.com

I bought this CD for the Tori Amos interview, and ended up really liking the whole thing. It's like listening to a mix tape. The songs are all unique, and I especially love the Hawaiian music. My one criticism is that the interviews could be longer.
