Album Notes

While recording 5 songs with bassist Noah Friedberg and drummer Jason Curland at Capture Studios in Coventry, CT, Mateo Peligroso conceived the idea of an all-star band that would combine American rock and funk styles with world grooves and dub production.

In San Francisco, he teamed up with bass player Rob Freeland, Malagasi drummer and percussionist Fiaindratovo "Mimy" Manavihare and keyboard player Joe Hauptman to put together the live band. The project fully came together with the help of Stephen Wilson adding live dub effects.

They spent 2006 and 2007 working hard in the Northern California scene, playing regularly in San Francisco, San Jose and Half Moon Bay.

The Players recorded 8 more tracks at Tiny Telephone Studios in SF with recording engineer Chuck Rubano in June 2007. The 13 tracks combined to make their debut album "One For Your Mind" which was released on 9/1/07.

Nice job to Peligroso & the boys. Great debut Album is finally here. Excellent production, great songs that really grow on you. Trouble Times is a great example of the no non-sense bass-in-yo face by Rob Freeland! Very good LIVE show. Buy this album if you like: Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, Sly & Robbie, or any quality dub/reggae/rock/roots music. p e a c e

Folks...this really is some good shit! Mateo Peligroso has a really raspy, distinctive voice. The type of songs that really grow on you. Great riffs, lyrics, music. Not a far cry from something like Sublime. Good production. Worth a bit of your momma's money!
