Roddy Gordon—vocals, slide/lead guitar/blues harp.
With forty years gigging experience, Roddy is truly a veteran of the music business. Born in Aberdeen 1951 with an Irish mother and Scottish father, Roddy was exposed to the culture of Celtic music from a very early age. At fourteen, Roddy was listening to Bob Dylan, The Stones and exploring the roots of all styles of American blues.
When he was sixteen, Roddy moved to London and was soon playing the folk clubs and wine bars of London’s Soho and Mayfair, including a year’s residence at the Western Bar, Leicester Square.
Initially working solo before forming his own band, Roddy played many major rock and folk venues including The London Hard Rock Café, The Speakeasy, and The London Roundhouse. The band featured on such programs as ‘Country Meets Folk’ and ‘The Sound Of The Seventies’.
Over his musical career to date, Roddy has had the good fortune to work with a number of top musicians including, drummers Twink ( Pretty Things. Pink Fairies, Tomorrow and Hawkwind), Pete Banham (Honeybus, Peter Green, Mike and the The Mechanics) and George Butler (Dana Gillespie, Elkie Brooks, Robert Palmer), bassist Robin Sylvester (Dana Gillespie, Bob Weir’ s Ratdog, Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan) and keyboard player Pete Barden (Rod Stewart, Van Morrison Peter Green, Camel) and has recorded with Gary Moore, Madeline Bell (Blue Mink) and Doris Troy.
