ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
'Wasted Talent,
Solid, trunk-rattling music from a Spokane transplant
“I come from a long line of Gs, thugs and drug dealers,” Rod Mac spits on “Politicin” — a characteristically furious track on his debut LP. Indeed, his street cred is not in question. Originally from Champaign, Illinois, the intense emcee has been steadily rocking shows in Spokane, and his live hype is accurately represented here. Throughout Wasted Talent, there are moments of brilliant production and lyrical heat, especially on raw cuts like the thug anthem “Itz Only Muzik.” At times, Mac’s lack of vocal inflection coincides awkwardly with repetitive choruses, resulting in disposable tracks, and the snippets of dialogue from Malibu’s Most Wanted and Taken are ill advised. But there’s some solid, trunk-rattling music here — much of Wasted Talent is still on and poppin’ (as the saying goes) in my car stereo. - Jorma Knowles (The Pacific Northwest Inlander) Wednesday, March 17, 2010
CD Review

Spokane-by-of-Chicago rapper Rod Mac recently released his new solo album, "Wasted Talent" and it's been getting some burn. One half of The Have-Nots crew with ZanytheMicscmith, Mac is also a leader in the Real Life Arts Entertainment collective, which includes M-Dub, Skandoe, Loss Monstarz and Dime City. Mac is also skilled on the boards and handles the majority of the production and engineering on his various projects. Mac raps with gusto about being a skilled emcee even when he was in group that "rimmed out like when Shaq shoots." - Isamu Jordan (Thesomshow.com) Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Far from wasted
This album is bangin. Especially if you're not programed to listen to the cookie cutter, autotuned, adlib heavy tracks that replay on the radio all day. A must have for any true hip hop fanatic.
