MacDonald began singing in a Newport, RI waterfront bar while in the US Navy in the early seventies. Subsequently discharged as a conscientious objector, he became one of Greenwich Village's singer-songwriters in the 70s, moved to Florida in the mid-90s, was been named "best local acoustic artist" by the New Times and "one of ten magnificent musicians" by the Palm Beach Post. A veteran of the Fast Folk Musical Magazine recording artists while in NYC, he has twenty-one songs in the Smithsonian Folkways collection, and 9 cds. Besides recording and touring, he lectures on music in Florida Atlantic University's Lifelong Learning Program, and is sometimes seen gigging around Delray Beach, FL.

After the War

I have often wondered how one can continue to produce music, not just of varying topics but ofnew sound ans style. Even the new presentation of some older originals has given them a new taste. With a balance of thought evoking concerns to heart touching ballads, the presentation of composition and voice is pivot. I have enjoyed Rod's music for many years and though I don't tire of my collection, I'm always waiting, wondering, what will he do next? I have "stopped the war within myself". I'm the steward of "Every Living Thing". These are great ideas folks, try them!

Another Rod MacDonald hit! I continue to appreciate Rod's music and especially his lyrics. Thought provoking, anti war, pro peace and individual peace of mind. I love to hear his music when I am driving alone. After a while, I know all the songs by heart... until the next album comes out. A must have for the thinking person.
