Album Notes

A writer and a dreamer for as long as he can remember, Brian Roessler grew up just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. He fell in love with the guitar while attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania when a roommate came back from a semester in Spain with a hand-made twelve-string guitar. Teaching himself how to play, he quickly discovered that the beauty of the acoustic guitar lies just as much in its rhythm as its melody.

Brian played various venues and establishments throughout college, always bringing energy and enthusiasm to the performance; not only to his own songs, but also the ones he chose to cover. Though work has kept him busy since leaving college, Brian is looking into getting back to what he truly loves - playing music and connecting with an audience.

Seeing himself more of a lyricist than a trained musician, Brian has been inspired by a wide array of artists which include Ben Harper, Dave Matthews, Counting Crows, Peter Gabriel, The Stone Roses, The Cure, The Smiths, Frank Sinatra, and The Rolling Stones. The influence of so many styles has helped Brian develop an approach to songwriting he made his own - catchy, rhythmic, acoustic rock used as juxtaposition to emotionally driven, sometimes dark lyrics.

"The Right Words" is Brian's first CD. It is an album rooted in the human experience, fueled by observations of joy and pain and indifference, as seen through his eyes. From the innocent longing of the title track, through the lonely disillusionment of "End of the Bottle," "The Right Words" is a lyrical and musical chronicle of the roller coaster ride that is existence. Strap yourself in and enjoy the ride.

As someone who's never had the pleasure of hearing Brian's music live, I had only the CD to judge his talent on. The Right Words showcases an artist who's on the cusp of showing the world what he can do. If the cd is as good as it is having been recorded in a 'less than professional' way, I can't wait to see what a professionally produced will have in store for us. This cd is definately worth the few bucks you'll shell out for it.

As a heavy metal fan I do not often listen to music of this genre. However, this disc made its way into my CD changer a month ago and hasn't relinquished its spot. Only "Addict Girlfriend" & "Dance Under the Moonlight" failed to work for me. Personal faves include the cleverly named instrumental "Musing Without a Muse," "Isolation," & "I Bleed". I suppose I prefer the last two because they kind of remind me of 80's ballads by Cinderella & Great White respectively (not that the songs are formulaeic). My only criticisim would be that the disc could have used another up-tempo tune like the toe-tapping "Same" to shake the pace of things up a bit. All in all, a very enjoyable listen that combines catchy hooks and thought-provoking words. In a nutshell, scrape up the 12 bucks and get this disc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

This album is a collection that is a must have for everyone who has done a little soul searching. Every song is from the heart and you can feel what the writer is trying to convey. The guitar playing is wonderful and the vocals remind of Counting Crows. The only thing missing is the long rumored and unreleased track “Pub Poker”. Buy a copy of this today.
