Roger Dierck Kohrs, also known as "Tiny," is the bassist for the American rockabilly artist Unknown Hinson.
Born in 1952, he grew up surrounded by plenty of jazz, blues and rock'n'roll thanks to his father, who played guitar in a big band. Tiny also plays upright bass, guitar, keyboards, harmonica and banjo. When asked about his musical influences he mentions Django Reinhart, Jaco Pastorius, John Entwistle, John Paul Jones and Ray Brown. His first small performance was in the 6th grade playing the accordion.
In the Eighties and Nineties Roger toured in a duo with his wife and singer Florence Starnes. He played in countless road bands throughout the years and shared the stage with many musicians, including Dee Clark, Ray Pillow and Bruce Hornesby, Larry Carlton, Little Feet, The Yellowjackets, and BR- 549 just to name a few.
After settling in North Carolina in 1993, Tiny became friends with drummer Bill "Buddy Boy" Scott and together they joined the American cult band Unknown Hinson. Roger describes Unknown Hinson's style as "country western metal psycho-billy".
Fresh Lettuce is the first solo CD by Roger Kohrs. The CD contains 12 original compositions by the bassist in a pop/jazz/rock/blues fusion of styles and offers a refreshing listening experience. This music is great listening for a road trip!

This CD is amazing; all instrumental tracks, but interesting and calming at the same time. My 2 favorite tracks are "a cool Day" and "Bettie Page." Each artist is extremely talented: great bass lines, cool drum breaks, harmonica solos. This CD has it all !

I've seen Roger play many times with Unknown Hinson but this CD really lets you hear more of Roger's influences. Every track has a memorable hook. Different instruments get to solo throughout the disc so you never get tired of any one timbre. Bravo!
