Singer/Songwriter Roger Kuhn (an enrolled member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians) began his journey into the world of music at a very early age on the prairies of North Dakota where he spent his childhood days on his familys farm.
At 20, with a backpack of clothes and $600 in his pocket he moved to New York City to pursue his dream of becoming a performer. After living in the city for a short three months he got his first paying job as a singer and has continued to perform throughout New York on a regular basis. Most recently Roger performed at the American Indian Community House in New York as part of their nationally recognized series Indian Summer.
His first tour, The Weekends Away Tour, kicks off this spring in Fargo, ND. The tour will be making stops in San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, Denver, Minneapolis, New York, Boston, Seattle, Charleston, WV, Washington DC, Montreal, London and Amsterdam.
Roger has worked with several local, national and international artists as a contributing writer, studio session singer, background vocalist and instrumentalist. He has been featured as a Native singer/songwriter in both local and national publications.
When not making music, Roger spends his time volunteering for various non-profit organizations, lobbying for human and animal rights and dancing to the beat of his own drum.

"...a vocal masterpiece"
author: Len Roger - Stonewall Society
Self described as the "love child of Elvis and Cher", Roger Kuhn knows his talent. A more accurate description I doubt would be possible. Now, take a moment to ponder exactly what that might mean. As a music fan it would mean awesome. Means the same to a Roger Kuhn fan. Kuhn's voice is an amazing instrument. That he marries that gift with sincere lyrical subject which touches, envisions, and entertains is a blatant example of this artist's intense talents. Musical accompaniment which enhances the experience, makes for a fully rounded and completely satisfying listen.
My only complaint would be that there were only eleven tracks on the "Proof" CD. I could have handled a double set. But then, maybe that is the point. To come back for the next offering from Roger Kuhn. I will be! "Proof" certainly left this listener wanting more. That in itself is a sign of strong talent. Knowing how to keep them coming back is considered a hard lesson. It is obvious that Roger Kuhn has learned this lesson or that his talent is so strong the lesson is learned by us. Maybe both.
"Proof" opens impressively with "What's Your Name". A rockin' musical questionnaire which has a Springsteenesque bite and should be the opening theme song for all first dates. Let no couple be together with out this one! The title track, "Proof" continues the musical fest more than demonstrating Kuhn's prowess as a vocalist, songwriter, and musician. each song on this CD is a stand out. Some just bump it up higher on the scale. Such as "Two nations".
"Two Nations" is one of those signature pieces. And this signature will be like those on a momentous document, think Thomas Jefferson. Introspective, deep and revealing lyrics create a backdrop of American Society which easily translates to alternate communities. A classic with punch, tenderness, and poignancy. As I am talking signature pieces, there are two more which have to be mentioned. "Beautiful U" is a vocal masterpiece which is a perfect showcase for Roger Kuhn's majestic vocal qualities. I must admit I was so taken with the vocal strength of "Beautiful U" that a full three listens was needed to catch the beauty in the words. A true gem! The third signature piece for me would have to be "Cradle-Me (With Love). A real Kuhn classic! Only description....that which is Kuhn!
The best advice I can give is rush, and get your copy of this musical marvel. I believe "Proof" is a CD which will be talked about for quite a while. I am sure the artist, Roger Kuhn will be even more so. Roger's music creates a warm and familiar feeling which makes you want to return. And you will be glad you did and found his music in the first place. Don't let the Elvis and Cher comparison allow you make any preconceived notions about Roger Kuhn. His voice is very much a love child of Elvis and Cher. However, he takes that talent to new areas and heights. And are we happy!
