Tim Oxley and Jodi Phillis are a creative force to be reckoned with. Writing, recording and producing everything in their home in Fairy Meadow, Australia, a suburban town by the sea, they have concocted the ultimate sonic experience on this, their second album.
Circle Suckers and Bubblestars is a an aural roller coaster ride, delighting the listener with all out rock anthems(Rebel Forever, People Power), psychadelic landscapes(Washer Woman Pool, Zebra Direkta), political manifestos(Open the Door to Your Life) and tender love songs(Faith, Forever, Rising Up).
Choosing to focus on the writing and recording rather than endless touring and performing, Jodi and Tim have paid attention to the tiniest details here and it shows. The layered instrumentation is nothing short of astonishing with their trademark lush harmonies, horn and string orchestras, electric guitars from hell, harpsichords, a piano part played by Chris Abrahams of The Necks and delicate shades of sound throughout.
