Album Notes

The Roland Ruby Band (Gates Thomas on Piano/Keyboards; Kerry Fernandez on Vocals; Christian Fabian on Bass; Willard Dyson on Drums; Gilad on Percussion and Roland Ruby on Vocals/Guitars) consists of seasoned recording and touring NYC area Musicians who have taken time from their busy schedules for this special project, which will hopefully be the first of many.

The individual group members have either worked with the top names in the biz or have been successful as band leaders on their own.

This eclectic ensemble that would make the United Nations proud, consists of a Waspy Iowan, a couple of Latinos, a German raised in Sweden, an African American hailing from Oakland, California and an Israeli of Polish descent.

Professionally speaking, their previous musical experiences have included Classical, Jazz, Rock, Pop, World and of course Latin Music.

This enchanting debut CD features songs that tell a romantic story of long distance love. From the soothing opening notes of "Abrazame" to the rocking "Seis Cuerdas y Madera" to the vamping titular track, the listener is guided through a bittersweet journey of passion, heartbreak and redemption. The eighth track, written by a then 19-yr old Roland Ruby, is a tragic love story that draws the listener in with its catchy melody and beat.

Just as surely as there will be a follow up CD, it is sadly unlikely that these songs will ever be performed live on stage by this line up. Therefore, fans of these songs are urged to keep this Project alive by purchasing more than one copy of Todavia Nos Queremos, at the 30% discount, of course. Indeed, this collection of romantic songs make an ideal gift for the special people in one's life.

Non-Spanish speakers will be pleased that this limited edition CD includes an 8-page booklet full of English liner notes that explain the romantic Spanish lyrics.

"Todovia Nos Queromes" by Roland Ruby, is an audibly appealing and tasteful CD with moving romantic sensations defined along Latino lines. It embraces pop, rock, Jazz and blues influences all in one latino musical artistic expression. The musicianship throughout the CD is skilful and results in a very impressive musical work. The general lyrical compositions and the quality of recording are very good. However, the most impressive aspects of the CD are the smooth latin groove that backs the very strong vocal performances. "Queremos" is a full fleshed blues song with latino flavor. This song has an effective blend of vocals and skillful piano. "Abrazeme" has a theatrical and sensational start. With its acceptable arrangement of instruments and vocals, it makes a memorable combination. " The perfect play of guitar and piano in "Eres mi Cancion," makes this song an appealing melody to the ear. If you enjoy real Latin grooves with pop, jazz and blues influences, you will enjoy this CD. Pick up a copy today!
