"A Healing Angel" is an example of the way songwriters sometimes become vehicles for messages that need to get through.
In the fall of 2004, Denise had a phrase come to mind, which quickly expanded into a set of lyrics. The music immediately followed and "A Healing Angel" was born.
This could have been the end of the story, but there was more. A week later, a co-worker suffered a tragic family loss and Denise thought that sending the words or a simple tape of the song might be of comfort. But that idea was quickly replaced with another - to involve other colleagues in the project to make it more of a gift on behalf of the staff. Within weeks, Charlie Mingoia, Matt Zebrowski and Bill Davis came on board, the song was recorded and presented to their bereaved co-worker. Immediately after, the CD single 'took off', selling 200 copies within a month! People are buying it for themselves, but also as a gift of comfort to send to others as they would a sympathy, get-well or encouragement type of 'greeting' card.
Denise is a native of New York, where she lives with her family. She was fortunate to grow up in a family where music was a part of her daily life. Denise's interest in music was always supported and she received her first guitar at age 11. As an adult, she became a regular on the Coffee House and open mic circuit. She is also privileged to share her love of music with children as an elementary school music teacher.
