Mark Romney is creating something to hold onto, whether it be through his lyrics, emotional guitar playing or just the unique blend of sounds that he throws at the world.
Originally from Spokane, Washington, Mark started songwriting at a young age. His mother and some creative teachers encouraged Mark to explore life and thought through poetry and art. Mark's writing was nurtured from paper to song after meeting Chad Kauppi in high school. Together Mark and Chad played in numerous bands, some living long enough to perform in local talent shows. After high school Mark found his way to the mountains of Utah and began performing on his own.
Currently residing in Utah, Mark has performed at local haunts such as the famous Owl Bar at Sundance, Muse Music, The Junction, Borders and Mother Urban's Ratskeller in Park City. In addition Mark has performed at Provo's annual Freedom Festival and at benefits for the ACLU and the American Cancer Society.
Inspired by artists such as Ani Difranco, David Gray, Pearl Jam and countless others, Mark creates a sound of his own following the paths of modern folk rock. His most recent album, Far From Then, displays Mark's distinctive compositions. Far From Then was recorded as-is with four musicians in a room with a couple of microphones. It has a basic, natural sound that can only be described as "feel-good music."
