Rong Fan currently teaches piano lessons full-time in her private studio, at Brookfield School, and as a part-time faculty member of the UNR Music department. In addition to teaching, she is also the piano accompanist for the Caughlin Ranch Honor Choir. Prior to her teaching career, Rong earned her Master of Music in Piano Performance at the University of Nevada, Reno under Dr. James Winn in 2003. Some of her accomplishments while living in the northern Nevada area include: recipient of the Graduate Music Scholarship, recipient of the Nevada Opera music Scholarship, coaching pianist and performer for Nevada Opera’s 2001 production of Puccini’s “Sour Angelica” and “Trial by Jury” in 2003, choral accompanist for St. John’s Presbyterian Church in 2001, and pianist for Foundation Orchestra Association since 2003.

Prior to coming to the United States, Rong studied music for 16 years in her native country, China. Some of her accomplishments while in China include composing music for the TV series “Deepening Shades of Season” and the movie “The July 7th incident of 1937,” performed regularly at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, and taught piano at the China Conservatory of Music for 6 years where she also studied and earned her B.A. in Music Composition with a minor in Piano Performance in 1998. She was the pianist for the “Sound of Spring” chamber orchestra which performed regularly as well as recorded a CD for JVC. After graduating, Rong worked full-time for the Beijing Dance Academy as a Dance Accompanist as well as prepared for graduate studies in the United States.

Rong’s personal interests in music include classical music from the Romanic period and Chinese classical music.
