This new compilation album features arrangements and originals by Grammy Award winning fiddle player, Ron Levine. Inspired by Stephane Grappelli, Albert Lee and Bob Dylan, Ron’s soulful sound, born of country roots, and mixed with smart jazz showcases his skills and creativity as a musician. This inspired album, accented by virtuoso violin and mandolin improvisation, will take you on a fun and reflective journey as it twists and turns through toe-tapping instrumentals.
“When I improvise, I just play with the feeling I’m looking for. I am inspired by the chord progression, and play whatever comes out of my head with those chords and the feeling of the song. I can’t control what comes out of my head, it’s just there.” – Ron Levine
This new album is a compilation of previously recorded tracks, all remixed and remastered. It includes Ron Levine original compositions and such country hits as Ghost Riders (in the sky) and a contemporary arrangement of the traditional song, Swallowtail Jig, renamed Storm Dancer by 3 of the writer/collaborators.
Ron Levine has been described as a “virtuoso fiddle player”, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, with “dancing fingers”, The Flint Journal. He won a Grammy Award for Best Country Instrumental Performance for playing fiddle with Gilley’s Urban Cowboy Band on the recording of Orange Blossom Special/Hoedown from the Urban Cowboy Soundtrack Album. After a long hiatus to get off the road and raise a family he’s running in music circles again.
Ron is the sole instrumentalist on all by 3 of the tracks and acts as the producer and engineer for the sessions. Storm Dancer, The Last Roundup and I’m the Only One were recorded in Nashville with the help of Nashville studio musicians and friends. These tracks were produced by Lobo and engineered by Greg Kane. The entire CD was mastered by Brian Lipski with Frankford Wayne mastering.
