Album Notes

Drawing deep from the roots and rhythms of the earth, Roots A’Risin’ delivers nourishment for the soul! High-spirited psychedelic rock and roll is the simplest way to sum up the diverse mixture of music and moods that comes from this eclectic and compelling jam band. RAR’s soulful message aims to impart an awareness of the higher consciousness we strive for and the delicate balance of life we look to achieve. Meditative lyrics, acoustic rhythms, and heavy reggae dub grooves with funk interludes drive these enlightening tidings, creating a unique musical experience.

Roots A’Risin’ began as Pamela Parker’s vision for a united world, people at peace through music. She began to seek out other musicians of the like mindset, eventually forming the core of RAR with Daniel Parker and Lauren Silkey. Together they cultivated the sound and spirit of the band.

All three songwriters employ their knowledge and experience from previous musical ventures and higher education on the RAR journey. Pamela Parker’s classical and jazz training are showcased in her performance on vocals, guitars, and keyboards. Her indulgence in a variety of musical and artistic spheres is a vital part of her sonorous discourse with listeners. Daniel Parker sings and performs on keyboards and guitars, bringing a wealth of experience in conscious roots and world music to the group. He spent the early 1990’s touring the U.S. and Europe with legendary reggae vocal harmony trio, The Itals, as part of the backing band Soul Defender Posse. The latter half of the decade was spent on tour with R.C.A. recording artist Citizen Cope. Daniel’s amalgamation of styles brings a textured, unique improvisational element to the band. Lauren Silkey was classically trained in voice, piano and violin from an early age. Her performance on vocals, keyboards, and percussion convey her zeal for music from many genres. These qualities culminate in an intriguing exposition.

Pamela, Daniel, and Lauren’s passionate vocal harmonies and enticing lyrics are driven by the veteran rhythmic synergy of Brad King’s thundering bass and the worldly drums of Patrick Tiglao. With the release of their first album, PEACE, and no the second album, STRIPPED BARE IN ANOTHER WORLD, the positive vibrations of RAR are now resonating throughout the world! The sound of Roots A’Risin’ has been described as “enchanting and mystical”, something one must experience firsthand!
