Album Notes

From the powerfully strong synthesizer parts and thought provoking lyrics of the opening track "Doing Life" to the gritty sounds of "Skid Row," Rory's second contemporary gospel release features awesome original tracks and some very unique arrangements of classic gospel tunes. The unique contemporary version of How Great Thou Art can truly be felt deep in your soul. Featured on this album is a mixture of wonderful vocal talents including Cheryl Hall, Toni Conely, and Shelika Zeigler of "Special Blend." Also lending their voices to this project are Cyndi Holman and Regina Blaylock. Etched In Stone has something for everyone looking for inspiring Christian music.

Rory's love for music began at an early age. At age 13, he began trumpet lessons. He also studied other brass instruments through junior high and high school. While in high school, most of his free time was spent playing with local bands, doing studio recording, and playing in local churches.

Inspired by artists such as Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles, Rory took up an interest in keyboards and synthesizers. He then formed a group called Intercession with members of his home church, St. Philip Lutheran in Compton, CA. They played at various functions and churches in the Los Angeles area. Later, the group expanded to include members of other Christian denominations, changed its name to Inner Session, and began playing for larger audiences.

Rory has performed at many venues with Inner Session and had several headliner concerts. Although Inner Session is no longer active, Rory has continued recording, performing and spreading his message through his music.

Rory writes most of the music he performs. Although a form of contemporary gospel, his music is often described as different and a refreshing change from the usual. Rory enjoys and writes many styles of music and he has always kept his focus on God's Word, using his gifts to God's glory.

A strong CD from start to finish. "Doing Life" and "Skid Row" give you a strong wake-up slap across the face about real issues, and the beautiful "Thru the Rain" is one of the best songs I've heard in a long time. There are also some really good cover versions of Stevie Wonder and Curtis Mayfield songs and other traditional songs, including a nice version of "Swing Low Sweet Chariot." "Were you There?" finishes the set off. That song made me feel like I was right there at the Crucifiction!
