Rose & Thistle's first release 'Catch the Irish Spirit' is filled with great Irish standards, traditional and a couple original tunes.
Rose & Thistle was originally formed as a duo in 2002. After 4 years of being "Irish Rovers", rambling around the countryside of Northeastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania on St. Patrick's Day with The Dolan Family Singers, it decided that the area could use a little livening up. Our local Irish Pubs needed some Irish Music the other 364 days of the year. Rose & Thistle started when we thought, "Let’s see if we can bring the Irish Spirit to life again at Clancy's Pub" (a place we'd frequented in years past) Clancy's welcomed us every Friday night for a year and a half, people jumped on the jaunting car (the band wagon) and the Irish Spirit grew from there.
There are 2 original tunes on this CD, McCarthy Lay Dead & My Leprechaun. I wrote My Leprechaun as a birthday present for husband and fellow band member, Mike Quinlan.
In February 2006 Zachary Miller joined the band; his fiddling has added a new dimension to the Rose & Thistle sound. You can hear Zach's fiddling on our second CD 'Grab Your Coat'.
Hope you enjoy the music!
