Album Notes

Jenrose is a Kentucky-based singer/ songwriter with a soulful voice and eclectic writing style. This solo release follows on the heels of two albums recorded with the Kentucky Bootleggers: A Girl Named Henry (2005) and Make Your Own (2007). Unlike those earlier releases, Cowgirl Up was written, produced, and arranged by Jenrose. The songs display a motley mix of influences, with tinges of blues, country, folk, pop, jazz, and soul. Inspired by songwriters from Loretta Lynn and Emmylou Harris to Michelle Shocked and Patty Griffin, Jenrose’s songs cover a wide range of musical and lyrical styles. The common thread that runs through all of her music is a passion for story-telling and an appreciation of the well-crafted song.
