In "Celtic Love Songs," the The Rose and Thistle Band takes its much-heralded treatments of romantic and wedding-themed Celtic music to a new level by presenting some of the finest love songs in the Scottish and Irish tradition. Led by Elizabeth Nicholson's sweet soprano, "Celtic Love Songs," includes such romantic favorites as "My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose," and "Wild Mountain Thyme," set to elegant harp, fiddle, whistle, guitar, and pipe arrangements. Beautifully realized throughout, this recording makes a perfect soundtrack to wedding festivities as well as a lovely general listening experience.


Portland Oregon's Rose and Thistle Band is comprised of three of the Northwest's most accomplished traditional musicians: Elizabeth Nicholson on vocals, harp, and guitar; Rob Barrick on pipes, whistles, and bass violin; and Eddie Parente on fiddle, viola, and whistles. With lavish arrangements that go from love songs to spirited jigs and reels to classical fare, the trio is a particular favorite at weddings.
